JDRF Support for Stem Cell Research
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) will support multi-disciplinary research in the development of stem cell therapies for the treatment of Type 1 diabetes. We will support work with adult and cord blood stem cells, and embryonic germ stem cells, and NIH-approved or newly derived human embryonic stem cells in excess of clinical need. Non-profit and for-profit institutions, both public and private, may submit applications.
The JDRF requires all applicants to provide evidence of appropriate ethical review by the institution’s Investigation Review Board or equivalent. JDRF also has its own Oversight Committee, which will provide a separate ethical review for all applications in this area. Approval from both committees is required for funding.
For more information please visit the research section of the JDRF website.
Questions about the JDRF’s funding of stem cell research should be addressed to Dr. Marc Hurlbert ([email protected]) or Dr. Brian Flanagan ([email protected]).
